Antiperspirant Is Best Efficient at Night And Here’s Why

At night, your skin is drier and your temperature is lower. You may not have known it, but these are 2 factors that dramatically increase the effectiveness of your antiperspirant. It penetrates the skin better and leaves you with a long-lasting effect.

We at Bright Side did some research on why applying antiperspirant at night is better and would like to share it with you.

It doesn’t work well in the morning.

As opposed to the nighttime, your sweat glands are more active in the morning, so when you use antiperspirant during the morning hours, it will have a harder time getting to where it belongs, which is in your pores.

After a shower, it won’t penetrate the skin properly.

If you use it right after a shower, chances are the reaction with the product will happen on the outer layers of the skin, and the antiperspirant might not have an effect. You want it to happen in the deep layers of your skin, which is where it needs to act to actually stop you from sweating.

It’s more efficient at night.

At night, your body temperature usually drops, naturally. You sweat less because of this, so when you go ahead and apply your antiperspirant right before heading to bed, your sweat plugs will be able to absorb the product much better. It’s also best to use it on dry skin since it penetrates the skin more deeply.

Since most antiperspirants usually last about 24 hours, they will still be active in the morning and even after a shower. To help dry your skin even more, you can wipe your armpits with a towel before applying it.

Reapply it in the morning if you need it.

If you’ve decided to go ahead and start applying antiperspirant before bed, you can also reapply it in the morning to strengthen its effectiveness. Most of the antiperspirant’s work will already be done, but when you do this, it acts as a double attack on your sweat glands.

What’s your routine when it comes to applying antiperspirant? Do you apply it at night or right after a shower? Maybe you even do it during the day. Let us know some of your tips.
